Louisiana and Mississippi postcards sometimes claim that their state flower, the magnolia, is the largest, but the biggest sunflowers are literally twice the size of the biggest magnolias. Quit lying, Mississippi and Louisiana! correct

#2 -- I think the other is [gulp] Snakes on a Plane. Which for some reason I was looking at clips of the other day. Was it really a "hit"?

#4 is the famous slingshot, I believe.

#7 - Have they all hosted both an Olympics and a World Cup? Not too sure about Sweden ... or, China, now that I think about it. Or a few of the others. Plus, the U.S. has hosted both. Eh, it was worth a shot.
 
#7 -- Oh, I got it! I wasn't too far off with my last guess. The wording of the answer is going to be a bit tricky thanks to the presence of Bosnia and Russia.
